Description: A flat out-and-back walk along the canal tow path from Slaithwaite to Standedge Tunnel, Marsden (the longest, deepest and highest canal tunnel in the country!) This ramble is a great way to explore the beauty of the West Yorkshire countryside and experience some of the region's industrial heritage. We're joining up with Experience Community C.I.C. who design and lead rambles which are accessible to mountain trike users for this day out - and we love bringing our blended communities together for fresh air and connection!

The route can be seen here:https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53728374

This will be a gentle, socially paced ramble of around 3 hours long with opportunities to stop for a break or take photographs. We will stop to have a packed lunch and there are opportunities to stop at the visitors centre near Standedge Tunnel, where hot drinks and cakes can be purchased and also Zapato Brewing which offers beers, bevs and hot drinks. Both venues have an accessible toilet.

People who use other types of off-road mobility equipment are welcome to join the ramble, however, the route has only been checked using a Mountain Trike and access cannot be guaranteed. If you would like to book the use of a mountain trike, please sign up at this link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/experience-community-queer-out-here-ramble-slaithwaite-standedge-tunnel-tickets-1978246367137?aff=oddtdtcreator

What to bring: Sturdy shoes. Lots of warm layers and a waterproof jacket. Hat and gloves if you have them. Water and snacks/a packed lunch.

Toilets: There are toilets available at the beginning and end of the walk, and along the route as detailed above.

Vibes: A gentle ramble for anyone who identifies as queer and/or disabled. Welcoming vibes and friends. Beautiful canal route. Nice places to stop and get great coffee, drinks and snacks. A really gorgeous West Yorkshire town which we encourage you to explore after the ramble if you have time!

Dogs: Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome :)
