Queer
Mountain Days
What is a Queer Mountain Day?
Queer Mountain Days (QMDs) are professionally led outdoor adventures for LGBTQ+ people who want to spend time in the hills, mountains and wild places with other queer folk.
For us, it's more about the spirit of the experience than any particular terrain classification. Some QMDs focus on classic mountain routes and summits, while others might explore navigation, scrambling, skills, challenge walks or other outdoor experiences.
Each QMD is designed and led by an independent, qualified Mountain Leader. Some days focus on classic mountain routes and summits, while others might explore navigation, scrambling, skills, challenge walks or other outdoor experiences.
Unlike our free community hikes, QMDs are paid events. Your ticket helps cover the time, expertise and responsibilities of the Mountain Leader, while also supporting the work that goes into organising safe, welcoming and well-run events behind the scenes.
Our aim is to create meaningful paid opportunities for queer outdoor professionals, while helping more LGBTQ+ people access high-quality outdoor experiences in a supportive and community-centred environment.
Each QMD is different. Full information about the route, difficulty, fitness requirements, kit list, timings, accessibility considerations and weather expectations can be found on the individual event page. We encourage everyone to read this information carefully before booking to make sure the day is right for them.
Whether you're looking to build confidence in the mountains, spend time outdoors with community, learn new skills or simply enjoy a great day in the hills, we hope QMDs offer something a little special.
