January Restorative Ramble

Come and beat the January blues by joining us for the first Queer Out Here of 2026!

When: Sunday 25th January 10:45AM (finishing around 2:00-2:30PM) (option to stay on for a drink)
Where: Meet @ Stenner lane entrance to Fletcher Moss, near Ye Old Cock Inn Pub
Distance: Approx 4km
Duration: 2 hours with breaks
Parking: There is a small paid carpark near the pub and some on-street parking around in Didsbury - but both can be limited on a weekend. Public transport recommended if poss :)
Walk Leaders: Suzy and Josie

Description: We had such a beautiful time at our restorative ramble last January that we’re doing it all over again. (But hopefully this time without the floods and frozen tundra lol). Join Josie and Suzy for a gentle ramble around Fletcher Moss Gardens, Stenner Woods and along the Mersey, stopping along the way for some moments of reflection, noticing and savouring. The route is mostly flat with some short inclines. Pathways are stony and sometimes muddy (and potentially icy depending on the January weather) so please wear suitable footwear - preferably walking boots if you have them. For anyone who would like, we will stay on for a hot drink at the Fletcher Moss cafe or head to The Didsbury pub for a warmup if the weather isn’t so good.

Public transport to get there includes buses to Wilmslow Road stops, trains to East Didsbury station or Metrolink to either Didsbury Village or East Didsbury.

What to bring: Sturdy shoes with ankle support than can withstand mud and uneven ground. Lots of warm layers and a waterproof jacket. Hat and gloves if you have them. Water and snacks to keep you going.

Toilets: There are toilets available at the beginning and end of the walk.

Vibes: A gentle start to the year, appreciating the beauty of winter, getting outside even when it's chilly, making new friends, seeing some friendly faces, getting fresh air and a bit of exercise, hot chocolates and marshmallows after.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome :)
