Description: After a short walk we will follow the tree lined and mainly flat Sett Valley trail, stopping to go through some warm ups together and do any personal stretches. We will then continue running the trail for a short break at The Sett Valley Cafe (There are toilets here and the option to buy pies or cakes to be eaten together at the end of the route)
We will begin an easy uphill walk then running steadily across undulating grassy fields with opening views back towards the converging Goyt and Sett Valleys. There will be some off camber/uneven sections in the fields and the occasional stone to keep an eye out for when picking your route. We will be walking up any steeper inclines.
On reaching Brownhill Farm we will break before we enjoy a lovely long downhill run toward the river Goyt. We will run or walk at our own pace to enjoy the lovely spring time greenery here. Gathering back together at the bottom we follow a lovely wide flat path to the river and finally pass through the fantastic rock feature of The Torrs!
What to bring:
Running shoes ideally with some tread for traction on the trails and uneven ground. Hat, gloves and waterproof jacket and wear any clothes you are comfortable to run in. If you have a bag, then one you can run comfortably with. Some blister packs if you have newer footwear or are newer to running. Water, around 500ml. A small optional snack for on the trail such as banana flapjack. Finally there is the option to bring lunch along if you can carry it, otherwise its possible to purchase something from the Sett Valley Cafe or shops in New Mills. The idea is to have a lunch stop at Torr Vale Tap at the end.
